Some of these establishments, we’ve got personal relationships with, some we just really love what they do and how they do it. You’ll notice a definite theme for most of them, especially the food and fitness related folks: they offer healthy choices, use local suppliers, and support the community. Definitely stop in and see what they’re about!
Bluebeard : This is a fantastic restaurant, with a constantly changing, fascinating, and seriously delicious menu. They source locally and in season quite a bit. It’s pretty easy to eat paleo here, especially if you’re a bit relaxed about how you define it. It’s true, many of their items are served with or on breads from their bakery Amelia’s, but hey… if you’re going to have a grainy cheat day, this is an excellent choice.
Fermenti Artisan : These guys do truly fantastic fermented foods; sauerkrauts, kombucha, water kefir, and lots of other stuff. They’ve got a spot inside City Market, stop by when you’re downtown and grab some probiotic tastiness.
Good Life Farms : Herbicide free, sustainable farming using energy efficient hydroponics and field practices, these folks produce (in my humble opinion) the best local heirloom tomatoes and greens, and supply both to several local grocers and restaurants.
KG Acres : Sustainably produced, free-range chicken and sundry veggies, heritage breed turkeys, and lovely feather artwork. One of our favorite sustainable farms in the area!
Toolbox Men’s Supply : If you’re a man in need of some stylish undies, this is the place to shop. They carry exclusive lines, things you can’t get anywhere else in the midwest, including items from conscientious clothing maker PACT.
